Tiny Tiny IRC is an open source AJAX-powered chat platform

The idea behind this being that you don’t need either client software or even a stable network connection to chat, just keep the site open to see new messages.

Features

  • Media embedding, emoticons, themes, browser notifications;
  • Built-in proxy for media content for increased privacy and malware protection;
  • Can be easily extended via javascript hooks;
  • Can connect to standard IRC servers and/or host local chat channels without any limitations inherent to RFC 1459 protocol, i.e. unlimited message length, no unicode-related issues;

Requirements

Server-side

  • httpd (i.e. nginx/apache)
  • PHP 5 or newer (requires compiled-in support for iconv, PDO (PostgreSQL) and JSON functions)
  • PostgreSQL 9.1 or newer
  • A Redis server
  • Java SE (see JavaDependencies) to run backend connection daemon (see RunningConnectionDaemon) - optional for outbound RFC 1459 IRC protocol connections, not necessary for local chat

Client-side

  • Any modern browser should work fine.

Download
